First up, quick shout out to all the DC’s in Ireland that joined me for a full day of integrative nutrition in Naas, Ireland.

Lovely group, fabulous venue and amazing weather.

This was partly to promote the new EUROPEAN supplement hub, so if you are in Ireland or anywhere in the EU you can now order from:

👇

Quick delivery, and no extra taxes to pay.

I will be back in Ireland in Jan/Feb for more.

In other news, we now have a 200 ml gorgeous Chiro Ice bottle available.

This completes the line up:

– 90 ml roll on
– 200 ml bottle
– 1 litre pump

Plus of course, the stand for the 90 ml and 200 ml to sit on.

Simply drop Natalie an email and it will arrive in the post, inhealthsupplements@yahoo.com

Note the 200 ml bottle is even better value than the previous 100 ml bottle.

You get double the amount of gel for £18.20 (compared to £10.90 )which is only 66% more, for 100% extra in gel.

Also, the lid is easy to open and shut for those arthritic fingers.

I will take this opportunity to remind you why we have this on the Chiro Ice infographic and bottle.

Parabens are no joke, and it is not a conspiracy “theory” they are bad for you.

The opening line is a killer (literally).

“These parabens are detected in the majority of US women and children, bind and activate estrogen receptors (ER), and stimulate mammary tumor cell growth and invasion in vitro”

They used “human acceptable daily intake” and found “increased mammary tumour volume” and more metastases of cancer.

They conclude:

“Our data suggest that parabens cause substantial mammary cancer metastasis in mice as a function of their increasing alkyl chain length and highlight the emerging role of aberrant spliceosome activity in breast cancer metastasis”.

Have you checked the labels on your generic menthol freeze gels recently?

We use a triple-action active ingredient formula.

The menthol cools you down and eases the pain quickly and changes the blood flow, AND gives longer term improved results as a consequence.

When I first qualified, I was quite snooty about menthol gels, but the research above changed that. Anything that can help patients get better and give them relief, why not?

Plus, ginger is a potent anti-inflamamtory and lymphatic drainer.

And it warms them up after about 5 minutes, oh they love the heat.

In other news, we have ANOTHER new product !!

Three in three weeks, somebody stop me !!

Introducing IRON BISGLYCINATE.

Have you ever had a patient complaining about the GP prescribing them iron which gives them terrible tummy pain, nausea and constipation?

That is because they are using ferrous fumerate at a huge dose of 200 mg.

This form needs an acidic environment in the stomach to release the ferrous iron (dissolution) to then be able to get transported into the gut lining via a special transporter and then into the blood.

If you cannot do that, then any unreleased iron (and remember 200 mg is a huge dose – consider 250 grams (not mg) of red meat would yield around 7 mg of iron, so 200 mg is massive), carries on down the gut UNABSORBED and causes havoc.

Unabsorbed Fe²⁺ reacts with:

Mucosal cells → irritation and inflammation 🔥

Gut bacteria → shifts microbiota, producing gas, bloating 🌬

Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) → catalyzes harmful free radicals via the Fenton reaction, damaging intestinal cells 🔥

🔥 Fenton Reaction:
Fe²⁺ + H₂O₂ → Fe³⁺ + OH• (hydroxyl radical, highly reactive)

All the inflammation makes for one angry intestinal tract, and the compliance is gone, and they stay low in iron.

So we use ferrous iron which is bonded to two glycine molecules.

The iron in this does not need to be dissolved away from the glycine via stomach acid, it carries on down and is absorbed via a DIFFERENT TRANSPORTER, that sucks di/tripeptides into the cells and then into the blood.

It is thus GENTLE on the stomach with a higher absorption rate.

Next time we will talk more about when you should consider iron beyond just those that are anaemic.
