Back in 2019, I wrote an article called The Power of Butter. It focused on a short-chain fatty acid found in butter: butyrate.

Fast forward to March 2024, we revisited the topic and discussed the amazing benefits butyrate can offer your body.

Little did I know that six years after first writing about it, we’d sign an exclusive deal with a company producing pure liquid butyrate—and launch our brand-new product: GUT HERO.
Today, we’re diving deeper into butyrate and how it supports gut health—for you and your patients.

First, Some Definitions:
Prebiotics: Non-digestible fibers (like inulin/FOS, resistant starch) that feed your gut bacteria.
Probiotics: Live beneficial bacteria (e.g., Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium) that support your microbiome.
Postbiotics: Compounds produced by probiotics during fermentation—like butyrate, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), peptides, and enzymes.
Key Point: Butyrate is a postbiotic. When you take prebiotics or probiotics, you’re hoping your body will eventually make more butyrate. With GUT HERO, we skip the guesswork and deliver the healing agent directly.
How It Works:
In a healthy gut, your diet contains a variety of prebiotic fibers and polyphenols. These feed your beneficial bacteria, which then produce helpful compounds like butyrate.

Butyrate is the primary fuel for your gut lining cells.
Your gut lining is highly active—its cells regenerate every 3 to 5 days and need constant energy. Butyrate (alongside glutamine) is what powers that regeneration.
Healthy gut lining cells (called goblet cells) produce a thick mucus layer. This is where beneficial bacteria live. Most of these bacteria are obligate anaerobes—they can’t survive in the presence of oxygen. The mucus protects them.
But when antibiotics, alcohol, steroids, or other medications disrupt your microbiome, butyrate production drops. The gut lining deteriorates. Probiotics become less effective. Then comes leaky gut, where gaps form between cells and allow things through that shouldn’t pass.

The thinning mucus layer exposes bacteria to oxygen, which kills beneficial strains and encourages the growth of facultative anaerobes—the bad guys.

The Vicious Cycle:
Less butyrate → weaker gut lining
Weaker lining → more inflammation
More inflammation → poorer absorption
Poor absorption → fewer nutrients to heal
Round and round it goes…..

The challenge is breaking that cycle—especially when nutrient absorption is already compromised.
How Do We Break It?
In chronic cases, the key is targeted intervention.
In chiropractic care, we adjust the spine to reduce nerve irritation and restore function.
In gut care, here’s what works best in my experience:
Food Reset – A short-term elimination diet to reduce inflammation.
Digestive Enzymes – High-potency enzymes to ease digestive stress.
Clinically Tested Probiotics – (Ours are in production—stay tuned!)
Pure Liquid Butyrate – Delivered via gastric-acid-resistant capsules to ensure it reaches the small and large intestines.
Why GUT HERO Works:
For years, we knew about butyrate, but results were hit or miss.
The problem? Purity and delivery.
Most butyrate was bound to sodium or magnesium, limiting dosage and effectiveness.
It often didn’t release properly in the gut.
And the smell? Let’s just say… goat vomit 🐐 🤢
GUT HERO fixes all that.
It’s odor-controlled (thanks to patented PDR capsules).
It’s protected from stomach acid for targeted intestinal release.
It’s effective, clean, and easy to take.
Who Is GUT HERO For?
We’ll start with gut-related issues (but there’s more to come).
Symptoms it may help:
– Bloating, gas, abdominal pain
– Constipation or diarrhea 💩
– Food sensitivities
– Histamine overload (butyrate stabilizes mast cells )

– Skin issues tied to gut health (eczema, rosacea)
– Joint pain after eating
– Leaky gut symptoms
And key conditions:

Real Results: Crohn’s Disease Study

Crohn’s disease is no joke—serious inflammation, ulcers, and systemic impact.
A study gave patients 4g (4000mg) of butyrate daily. Our capsules are 500mg each, so that’s 8 capsules per day.

Results:
53% remission
16% partial remission

All using gastric-resistant capsules—just like GUT HERO.

How to Use It
The label says: 1 capsule, 3x per day OR as directed.
If you don’t see improvement after two weeks, increase slowly—add one more capsule every other day until you notice relief. Then hold that dose.
Max: 3 capsules, 3x per day.
